Start-ups are often seen as innovative and dynamic workplaces, but sometimes their treatment of employees can be questionable. Recent incidents in the start-up world have shed light on poor treatment of employees, sparking a conversation about the importance of fair treatment and employee well-being.

One such incident involved a luxury salon services start-up based in Gurgaon, where the human resources manager raised concerns about the mental health and wellness of employees. The HR manager conducted a survey of all employees to assess their stress levels, only to make the shocking decision to let go of employees with high stress levels in an attempt to reduce overall stress levels in the company. This move, while achieving a mathematical goal, raises ethical questions about how employees are treated in start-ups.

In the competitive landscape of start-ups, there is a trend of using viral content to build awareness, even if it means turning bad news into good news. However, consumers rarely base their buying behavior on the corporate practices of service providers. Instead, their decisions are often driven by fear and greed. Despite reports of poor employee practices or toxic behavior by founders, consumers continue to use the services of popular start-ups.

This raises the question of whether start-ups can get away with mistreating employees while still maintaining a strong customer base. While revenue may continue to grow for some start-ups despite internal issues, it is important for founders to prioritize fair treatment of employees as a core value rather than a revenue-dependent tactic.

In conclusion, the recent incidents in the start-up world highlight the need for greater emphasis on employee well-being and fair treatment. While start-ups may focus on creating viral content to attract consumers, the treatment of employees should not be compromised. Building a culture of trust and fairness within a company is essential for long-term success, regardless of short-term financial gains. It is important for founders to prioritize the well-being of their employees and create a positive work environment that fosters growth and success for all stakeholders involved.
