Zeeshan Siddique, the son of the late NCP leader Baba Siddique, has been chosen by the party to contest the Maharashtra elections in 2024 from Bandra East. Siddique, who joined the NCP after his father was assassinated by gangsters, will be going up against tough competition in the upcoming elections.

Siddique was previously an MLA from the Congress party but was later expelled. His nomination has received praise from supporters, with Siddique stating, “My father Baba Siddique always fought for the poor and marginalized communities. It was his dream to see me win these elections and serve the people of Bandra East, and I am committed to fulfilling that dream.”

According to a 2019 affidavit on the MyNeta portal, Siddique’s net worth was reported to be around ₹9 crore after the last state elections. This includes movable assets of around ₹1.74 crore and immovable assets, primarily residential buildings, valued at around ₹7.24 crore. Additionally, he had liabilities worth ₹76 lakh at that time.

Siddique currently serves as an MLA and in the 2019 elections, he secured victory with 38,337 votes, defeating Shiv Sena’s Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, the then mayor of Mumbai, by a margin of 5,790 votes.

Following his nomination, Siddique expressed gratitude to the NCP leadership for their support during challenging times. He thanked Ajit Pawar for entrusting him with the responsibility to contest the elections, guided by both the people’s blessings and his father’s wisdom.

In a statement to the Indian Express, Siddique pledged to work tirelessly to continue the legacy his father left behind, dedicating his efforts to serving the people of Bandra East and beyond.
