The Indian Premier League (IPL) announced its auction shortlist for 2026 on Tuesday, December 9, featuring 350 players set to be auctioned at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Among these players, 240 are Indian, while 110 are from overseas. The list comprises 112 capped players and 238 uncapped players, including 224 Indians and just 14 uncapped international players. A total of 77 slots are available, with all 10 franchises having a combined budget of INR 237.55 crore.
Cameron Green, who opted to list himself as a batter, will feature in the first set of batters alongside Prithvi Shaw, David Miller, and Sarfaraz Khan, among others. Notably, 40 players have set their base price at the maximum of INR 2 crore, with only two Indians on that list: Venkatesh Iyer, who will appear in the second set of all-rounders, and Ravi Bishnoi, included in the fifth set of spin bowlers.
In addition to Green, Iyer, and Bishnoi, players such as Liam Livingstone, George Linde, Jacob Duffy, Auqib Nabi, Jamie Smith, Wanindu Hasaranga, Rachin Ravindra, Prashant Veer, Tim Seifert, Josh Inglis, Jason Holder, Michael Bracewell, and Simarjeet Singh are expected to attract significant interest from the franchises.
Kolkata Knight Riders, with a budget of INR 64.3 crore, and Chennai Super Kings, with INR 43.4 crore, hold the largest purses and have the most slots to fill, with 13 and 9, respectively. Sunrisers Hyderabad also need to fill 10 slots, but they have a smaller budget of INR 25.5 crore, indicating a busy auction for them in the uncapped and accelerated rounds. The Mumbai Indians have the least to spend, with only INR 2.75 crore remaining.
The auction is scheduled to commence at 2:30 PM IST (1 PM local time) on December 16.
