Cole Palmer is set to return for Chelsea in their upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday, November 30. The young forward has been sidelined due to a toe injury sustained in a home accident, but Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that Palmer is in contention to start in this crucial top-of-the-table clash at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca expressed his satisfaction with Palmer’s return, stating, “Having Cole back is good news, and everyone is happy. He can help us a lot. He is arguably our best player, and we are happy he is back. Now we have to give him time to be 100% fit. He has done fantastic in the past, and there is no doubt he will do great things for this club in the future.”
Currently, Chelsea ranks second in the Premier League standings, with seven wins and two draws from 12 matches, accumulating 23 points. Palmer’s comeback is anticipated to boost the team’s confidence, especially following their recent 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League. Chelsea aims to capitalize on this momentum as they face Arsenal’s defense on Sunday.
It is significant to note that Palmer has not played since September due to a groin injury and was close to returning before his toe injury ruled him out for subsequent matches against Burnley and Barcelona.
In contrast, Arsenal is facing injury concerns of their own ahead of the match. Leandro Trossard’s fitness is uncertain, and he will undergo a fitness test following his substitution in the first half of their recent win over Bayern Munich. Additionally, defender Gabriel is still in recovery from an injury sustained during international play with Brazil earlier this month. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed confidence in Gabriel’s resilience, stating, “I’m quite confident, especially the way Gabi takes every injury and the way he’s going to push everybody, that it’s not going to be that long.”
