Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (SWREL) has secured a 240 MW AC turnkey solar photovoltaic project in South Africa, valued at approximately $147 million (₹1,313 crore), announced the company on Thursday. This contract represents SWREL’s second international project from South Africa this fiscal year, following another order received just two months prior.
With this latest project win, the company now has four solar PV projects underway with different developers within the South African market. Total EPC order inflows for SWREL in this fiscal year have surpassed ₹5,088 crore. Global CEO Chandra Kishore Thakur noted that the ordering momentum remains strong, highlighting South Africa as a key international market for the company.
The two previous projects acquired by SWREL in South Africa during the last fiscal year have demonstrated substantial operational progress, solidifying the company’s position in the region. Recent contracts further enhance its market presence as the South African solar market continues to grow due to increased corporate demand for energy security, decreasing project costs, and the necessity for grid stability.
SWREL operates exclusively as a renewable EPC solutions provider, boasting a total portfolio exceeding 22.8 GWp across commissioned and under-construction projects. The company also oversees operations and maintenance for 9.3 GWp of solar capacity and has a presence in 28 countries, including regions in India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia, and the Americas.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the company’s shares closed today at ₹228.05, up by ₹2.14 or 0.95 percent.
